Tecnomac has developed and patented CAVATEC, a range of machines for the precision machining of medium and large blind cuts in wood panels, in particular of laminated wood for the construction of residential and industrial roofs. The machining time is drastically reduced thanks to the hydraulic thrust-force applied to the longitudinal and transversal movements. The accuracy of CAVATEC machining is vastly superior to that of conventional equipment (resulting in a great saving of resin filling).

The technology used by CAVATEC ensures great precision, with a planarity error contained in a tolerance of 2 mm on a 500 mm deep slot. The transversal translation (corresponding to the slot length) is operated and controlled by a hydraulic motor permits to machine slots in longitudinal movement, using a specially-designed chain guide.

Another important factor, the operator will work effortlessly and in complete safety, in full compliance with the current safety regulations.

CAVATEC is structured to withstand heavy workloads in the long run and requires minimal maintenance, allowing you to recoup the cost of machinery in a short time.

Minicavatec can work beams with base (thickness) up to 28 cm and is a comfortable bench that can be transported on site to perform wood machining with excellent speed and accuracy. The processing time needed to reach the depth of 300 mm, with any type of tool, is about 1 min (including the time to return to start position).

Machine suitable for medium and large carpentry, for the machining operations of laminated wood roofing with large dimensions (swimming pools, shopping malls, sports arenas, etc.).

CAVATEC 500/800 is designed to machine holes in wood beams supported on trestles. The machine consists of a sturdy metal frame, with a hole 32 cm high and 63 cm deep housing the beam. A lifting platform, operated by a hydraulic cylinder with a thrust of about 5kN, runs vertically inside the structure of the machine, with the force necessary to anchor the machine and the beam. A tool carriage, also hydraulically operated, slides longitudinally on recirculating ball guides (slot length) . The tool carriage houses a cross guide system, made of two slides:

One slide for the transverse movement (slot depth), with hydraulic thrust, moving on recirculating ball guides. One slide for vertical adjustment, manually set by the operator (handwheel), moving into contrast guides (slot position).

Equipment suitable for large carpentry, for the machining operations of laminated wood roofing with large dimensions (swimming pools, shopping malls, sports arenas, etc.) including special machinings (slots for "H-Shape" plates in compliance with Swiss regulations).

Cavatec 4 ASSI can machine slots up to 800mm deep, even with a chain mortiser only 10 mm thick, with a 30° inclination on both sides. It is the only machine existing on the market which can perform blind machining, even oblique, of this size. With Cavatec it is possible to insert junction knee-plates for portals without machining a passing slot, with consequent resin filling; the planarity error has a tolerance of 2 mm.
